What you will do

• Own technical direction, making architectural decisions and improving system design for scalability.
• Establish engineering standards for code reviews, incident hygiene, and quality expectations.
• Introduce lightweight planning rituals and delivery cadences to maintain team velocity.
• Stay hands-on by shipping backend systems, agent infrastructure, and product features.
• Mentor engineers and lead the hiring process to grow the early engineering team.
• Align technology strategy with the organization's commercial needs.

Requirements

• Proven track record of raising engineering quality and mentoring other developers.
• Deep technical expertise in Python (FastAPI or equivalent, async patterns) and data modelling.
• Strong experience with or genuine interest in LLM integration and agent systems.
• Ability to design complex systems and communicate trade-offs to stakeholders.
• Experience hiring exceptional engineers and growing early-stage teams.
• Must be based in or able to work hybrid from London, UK.

Nice to have

• Experience with voice agents or real-time systems.
• Knowledge of evaluation infrastructure or recruiting/HR tech.
• TypeScript and full-stack exposure.
