What you will do

• Manage and support reporters through editorial brainstorming and execution.
• Communicate and own the company's vision for local news teams.
• Experiment with and leverage AI tools to drive workflow efficiencies.
• Edit stories and newsletters using the proprietary Smart Brevity style.
• Write stories and newsletter items as needed.

Requirements

• Based in the United States (preference for North Carolina).
• Experience working in a fast-paced newsroom.
• Deep understanding of major metros and key topics in North Carolina.
• Experience managing reporters at varying levels of seniority.
• Strong conversational writing and story framing skills.
• Firm belief in the Smart Brevity philosophy.

• Experience editing daily newsletters.
