Technical Director - Facades (Engineering)

Location: Hybrid role based in any of the UK offices in Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London, or Manchester; travel to project sites across the UK is required as needed.

What you will do

• Provide senior technical leadership for façade and external wall systems, including fire performance, testing, appraisal, and remediation strategies.
• Oversee, peer review, and sign off complex and high-risk façade deliverables.
• Lead technical approaches for complex façade and external wall appointments.
• Assess and manage technical risk while ensuring advice aligns with legislation, guidance, and internal governance.
• Represent hirify.global in senior discussions with clients, design teams, contractors, and regulators.
• Mentor engineers and support standards, quality assurance, workload planning, resourcing, and service-line development.

Requirements

• Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent demonstrable experience.
• Extensive experience in façade and/or external wall engineering.
• Strong knowledge of façade systems, materials, construction techniques, and performance.
• Experience with technical governance, peer review, quality assurance, and independent judgement on complex, high-risk projects.
• Strong communication skills and experience explaining complex technical matters to clients and stakeholders.
• Experience mentoring engineers at different levels and willingness to travel to UK project sites.
