What you will do

• Define and drive the long-term technical roadmap for Golang-based backend services.
• Lead the design and evolution of Postgres-backed distributed systems, focusing on high performance and CDC workflows.
• Identify and consolidate systemic redundancies to simplify the developer experience.
• Set standards for observability, operational health, and system resilience.
• Partner with Product, Infrastructure, and Security leadership to negotiate technical trade-offs.
• Sponsor and mentor the growth of senior and mid-level engineers through technical guidance and code reviews.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience leading large-scale initiatives from design to production.
• Expert proficiency in Golang and deep understanding of distributed systems and concurrency patterns.
• Significant experience with Postgres, including advanced schema design and query optimization at scale.
• Proven ability to design resilient, high-availability services under heavy global load.
• Strong ability to drive consensus and influence technical direction across multiple teams.
• Must be based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada for a hybrid work arrangement.

Nice to have

• Experience with modern microservices communication patterns and service-oriented architectures.
• Exposure to TypeScript, JavaScript, or Node.js in a service-oriented environment.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and major cloud providers such as AWS or Azure.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for automating deployments.
