Senior Software Engineer with Accounting Experience (Fintech)

Location: Latin America; remote

Salary: $5,000–$9,500 gross USD per month

What you will do

• Design, develop, and optimize systems supporting financial reporting, reconciliation, and automation workflows.
• Build software applications and features in Go, plus reports and automations using Python and SQL.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle from design through deployment.
• Collaborate with Accounting, Finance, and other stakeholders to improve financial processes and data integrity.
• Build distributed, scalable solutions and develop metrics for continuous product improvement.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical direction while delivering testable, compliant features.

Requirements

• At least 7 years of full-stack software engineering experience; the compensation description references 8+ years for this senior role.
• Experience building and serving REST APIs with Go, Java, Python, or a similar language.
• Required experience using Claude or equivalent large language model tools to support productivity, research, and communication.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Ability to build consensus, introduce new ideas, and deliver high-quality software aligned with reporting and compliance standards.
• Experience with databases, microservices, observability, and cloud infrastructure is expected through the preferred technology background.

Nice to have

• Previous experience as an accountant or financial analyst.
• Knowledge of reconciliation, financial reporting, compliance, banking, or financial institutions.
• Experience with Python, Java, Go, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Prometheus, New Relic, or Datadog.
• Familiarity with containerized microservices on Kubernetes and AWS.
• Experience delivering commercial APIs and web applications.
