What you will do

• Administer, monitor, and optimize PostgreSQL databases running on Amazon RDS and Aurora.
• Perform regular maintenance including backup validation, replication checks, patching, and upgrades.
• Collaborate with developers to optimize SQL, PL/pgSQL routines, and data modeling initiatives.
• Set up performance metrics and alerts using AWS CloudWatch and pg_stat_statements.
• Implement and manage access control, auditing, and security policies.
• Automate schema deployment and contribute to database CI/CD processes via GitHub.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL in production environments.
• Proficiency with Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL, including provisioning, parameter groups, and failover.
• Experience integrating PostgreSQL with AWS services such as Lambda and S3.
• Strong skills in writing/debugging SQL, PL/pgSQL, managing views, and implementing partitions.
• Expertise in performance tuning, query planning, and index optimization.
• Must hold valid work authorization for the UK, Ireland, or Portugal.
