PostgreSQL Database Support Engineer (PostgreSQL): Helping customers’ DBA teams with expert assistance on database issues by gathering data, investigating problems, and providing detailed analysis via email, messaging, voice, or screen-sharing. Focus on performance tuning, query optimization, high availability solutions, backups, and resolving complex production-impacting incidents.

Location: Remote from anywhere in the world with stable internet. EMEA offices in Bucharest, Dublin, Frankfurt, Lisbon, Paris, UK, Warsaw. Availability to travel occasionally for team meetings, conferences, or customer visits.

What you will do

• Assist customers’ DBA teams by investigating issues, gathering data, and delivering digestible analysis through email, instant messaging, voice, or screen-sharing sessions for production problems.
• Contribute to the open-source community by authoring blog posts, answering forum questions, creating knowledge base articles, and hosting webinars.
• Collaborate with top database experts as a teammate, mentor, and learner in a global support team.

Requirements

• Good hands-on knowledge of PostgreSQL, provided tools, and contrib modules.
• Skilled in PostgreSQL ecosystem tools and technologies.
• Knowledge of performance tuning, query optimization, and index tuning.
• Experience with backup solutions like pg_basebackup, pgBackRest, WAL-G, and Point-in-Time Recovery.
• Experience with high availability solutions including replication, routers, proxies.
• Understanding of zero-downtime procedures and monitoring requirements.
• Demonstrable Linux systems administration and methodical troubleshooting skills.
• Experience working with customers in English.
• Self-motivated to learn new technologies.

• Advanced Linux tools: gdb, perf, strace, bpftrace, tcpdump.
• C programming experience.
