Senior Software Engineer (Education)

TL;DR

Senior Software Engineer (Education): Building and delivering full-stack features for online learning platforms with an accent on intuitive user experiences, performant UIs, and scalable backend services. Focus on designing APIs, optimizing performance, owning systems from design to deployment, and improving front-end architecture and design systems.

Location: Hybrid schedule based out of San Juan, Puerto Rico office (in-office Monday–Thursday, remote Fridays). Must be currently residing in Puerto Rico or willing to relocate to Puerto Rico.

What you will do

• Build and deliver full-stack features using React, Next.js, TypeScript, Node.js, and AWS services.
• Collaborate with design and product teams on fast, accessible user interfaces.
• Develop backend APIs and data flows for UI functionality and performance.
• Own systems end-to-end, including observability, testing, and deployment.
• Improve front-end architecture, design systems, and component libraries.
• Contribute to DevOps with AWS CDK or Terraform, participate in code reviews and mentoring.

Requirements

• 4–6 years of professional software engineering in modern web development.
• Solid full-stack experience: Frontend (React, Next.js, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS); Backend (Node.js, REST/GraphQL APIs); Cloud (AWS: Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, RDS, API Gateway).
• Strong front-end architecture, state management, and performance optimization.
• Familiarity with infrastructure (IaC, CI/CD) and cloud environments.
• Product mindset, cross-functional collaboration, clear communication.

Nice to have

• Experience with design systems.
• Familiarity with content management tools or headless CMS.
• Background in education, publishing, or high-scale consumer web.
• Exposure to event-driven systems or loosely coupled architectures.
