Field Service Technician (Switchgear)

TL;DR

Field Service Technician (Levels 1-3): Hands-on installation, modification, testing, and basic commissioning of LV/MV electrical switchgear components and subassemblies in data centers and industrial applications. Focus on troubleshooting electrical circuits and networking, coordinating solutions with project managers and manufacturing, and performing preventive maintenance.

Location: Portland, Oregon, United States (onsite field service with 75% travel)

Compensation: $36.30–$52.80 per hour

What you will do

• Attend project meetings and coordinate with contractors and clients.
• Install and modify electrical/mechanical components including panelboard interiors, circuit breakers, bus bars, switchgear, control wiring.
• Perform basic testing (visual, ductor) and commissioning of switchboards, control panels, power products.
• Troubleshoot electrical circuits and networking equipment.
• Coordinate with technical project managers and manufacturing for solutions to field issues, identify resources and parts needed.
• Conduct preventive maintenance, field installations, and modifications to existing equipment.
• Provide technical product support.

Requirements

• Technical degree or equivalent + 8+ years experience in manufacturing, data centers, or field service; commissioning of LV/MV electrical switchgear required for Level 3
• Strong communication skills, team player, ability to work independently
• Ability to travel 75%, including evenings and weekends when needed
• Experience with switchgear and electrical controls systems (required for Level 3)
• Ability to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams (required for Level 3)
