Field Service Technician (Electrical Switchgear)

Location: Chicago, IL (onsite with 75% travel, training in Ashburn, VA)

Salary: $36.30–$52.80 per hour

What you will do

• Install and modify electrical/mechanical components like panelboards, circuit breakers, bus bars, switchgear, and control wiring.
• Perform basic testing (visual, ductor) and commissioning of switchboards, control panels, and power products.
• Troubleshoot electrical circuits and networking equipment at customer sites.
• Coordinate with project managers, contractors, clients, and manufacturing for solutions and resources.
• Conduct preventive maintenance, field installations, and modifications to existing equipment.
• Attend project meetings and provide technical product support.

Requirements

• Technical degree or equivalent + 8+ years in manufacturing, data centers, or field service (commissioning LV/MV switchgear required for Level 3)
• Ability to travel 75%, work evenings/weekends, and independently without supervision
• Strong communication and team player skills
• Experience with switchgear and electrical controls (Level 3)
• Ability to read/interpret electrical wiring diagrams (Level 3)
