What you will do
- Review clinical documentation to assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes in compliance with regulatory and payer requirements.
- Manage custom coding, pricing, and patient inquiry queues to ensure accurate prior authorization and claim submissions.
- Investigate and resolve coding-related denials to prevent payment delays and reduce revenue leakage.
- Analyze denial patterns and collaborate cross-functionally to implement strategies for revenue integrity.
- Serve as a medical coding subject matter expert for internal teams and participate in external audits.
- Monitor regulatory updates and payer policy changes to maintain coding accuracy.
Requirements
- Location: Must be based in the United States (indicated by US-specific benefits and coding standards).
- Associate’s degree in Business, Coding, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum 2 years of medical coding experience in inpatient, outpatient, or professional services.
- Certification: CPC, COC, CCS, CCS-P, or CCA required.
- Proficiency in EHR systems, coding software, and Microsoft Excel for data analysis.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, payer guidelines, and reimbursement methodologies.
