Director, Program Business (Insurance)

Location: Austin, Texas; Dallas, Texas; Morristown, New Jersey; or San Jose, California, United States

Salary: $150,000–$235,000 annual base pay for the Morristown, NJ location

What you will do

• Lead a portfolio of Spinnaker insurance programs as the primary owner of program strategy and performance.
• Manage P&L responsibility, annual growth and profit plans, expense management, underwriting results, and catastrophe capacity allocation.
• Maintain contractual and regulatory compliance, including state filing reviews, business-term accuracy, onboarding, renewals, and program audits.
• Coordinate with finance, operations, claims, brokers, MGAs, reinsurers, and risk management on reporting, reconciliation, claims activity, IBNR, and reinsurance placements.
• Develop underwriting guidelines, manage portfolio limits and remediation, and oversee discontinued-program termination and run-off processes.
• Represent assigned programs within senior leadership and participate in new business development, conferences, marketing activities, and reinsurer visits.

Requirements

• 7+ years of risk management experience in personal and/or commercial insurance roles with increasing responsibility.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Experience setting and negotiating reinsurance programs, drafting contracts, and analyzing coverage.
• Knowledge of insurance contracts, policy forms, reinsurance, state regulation, claims coverage, and technical claims practices.
• Strong business acumen, independent decision-making, negotiation, organization, analytical skills, and stakeholder collaboration.
• Intermediate Excel skills and a customer-service and relationship-oriented approach.

• Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, AIC, or SCLA.
