Senior Infrastructure Engineer (OpenStack Ironic)

What you will do

• Design, operate, and improve scalable bare metal provisioning platforms based on OpenStack Ironic.
• Own the physical infrastructure lifecycle, including discovery, enrolment, provisioning, cleaning, deprovisioning, and hardware state management.
• Build provisioning workflows for GPU-enabled and high-performance server platforms.
• Integrate Ironic with Nova, Neutron, Glance, Keystone, and Placement, and automate hardware onboarding, firmware, BIOS configuration, validation, and recovery.
• Troubleshoot PXE/iPXE, BMC, out-of-band management, image deployment, network boot, and hardware compatibility issues as a 3rd/4th-line escalation point.
• Contribute to infrastructure roadmap planning, capacity expansion, incident response, and upstream OpenStack Ironic community activities.

Requirements

• Strong experience operating Linux systems and troubleshooting production infrastructure at scale.
• Strong specialist knowledge of OpenStack Ironic and bare metal provisioning concepts, including PXE/iPXE, DHCP, TFTP/HTTP boot, BMC, RAID, firmware, disk imaging, and node lifecycle states.
• Experience with Redfish, IPMI, or vendor out-of-band management interfaces.
• Experience designing infrastructure automation with Ansible or comparable infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tools.
• Strong scripting skills in Python and Bash.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex server, network, and management-layer issues and collaborate across infrastructure, support, and architecture teams.

Nice to have

• Experience contributing to or working with upstream OpenStack, Ironic, Metal3, or related open-source infrastructure projects.
