Operations Engineer

TL;DR

Operations Engineer (Kubernetes/Prometheus): Supporting live services, responding to incidents, investigating issues and improving stability and performance of containerised environments with an accent on infrastructure monitoring, alerting and fault diagnosis. Focus on managing microservices in AKS, designing observability configurations and collaborating on production issue resolution.

Newcastle upon Tyne (onsite, rotating shift pattern: 3 early shifts 07:00–15:30, 3 late shifts 14:30–23:00, 3 days off)

What you will do

• Progress and resolve incidents within SLAs, fulfilling time-sensitive service requests and mitigating product issues.
• Manage and support infrastructure and microservices in Kubernetes/AKS environments.
• Use observability tools like Prometheus/Grafana/Elastalert to respond to alerts and fix issues.
• Design and maintain monitoring, alerting configurations and contribute to incident prevention.
• Collaborate across teams to troubleshoot production problems and document processes for efficiency.
• Perform thorough testing for fault diagnosis and ensure high customer service standards.

Requirements

• Experience in 1st/2nd line technical support, operations or service-focused engineering.
• Customer/client-facing support experience.
• Good Linux administration and troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of Windows Server, TLS fundamentals, SQL/NoSQL.
• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana or ELK; cloud infrastructure (Azure/AWS preferred).
• Strong problem-solving, communication and proactive approach.

Nice to have

• Kubernetes administration/troubleshooting.
• CI/CD, Argo, networking, REST API knowledge.
• MongoDB/PostgreSQL experience.
• ITIL certification.
