Principal BMS Industrial System Architect (BESS): Define and drive end-to-end BMS system architectures for industrial Battery Energy Storage Systems with an accent on hardware, firmware, algorithms, safety, communications, and edge/cloud interfaces. Focus on scalable reference architectures, translating customer requirements into solutions, and ensuring reliability, compliance, and validation strategies for utility-scale, C&I, microgrids, and data centers.

What you will do
- Define and own BMS system architectures for industrial BESS at module, rack, and system levels, driving trade-offs across hardware, software, algorithms, communications, safety, and cost.
- Act as technical authority interfacing with industrial customers and integrators, translating application requirements into scalable solutions and IC definitions.
- Drive system-level diagnostics, redundancy, fault tolerance, and alignment with industrial standards and regulations.
- Guide system validation concepts, reference designs, and proof-of-concept platforms with validation and applications teams.
- Influence product roadmaps, identify technology gaps, and mentor engineers across global teams.
Requirements
- BSEE required; MSEE or PhD preferred; 10+ years in BMS, energy storage, power electronics, or industrial system architecture.
- Deep expertise in BMS architecture for stationary energy storage, battery technologies, system sizing, performance trade-offs, and lifetime optimization.
- Strong knowledge of BMS algorithms (SOC, SOH, protection, balancing, diagnostics), embedded systems, mixed-signal architectures, industrial communications, and safety concepts.
- Proven experience with BESS architecture and applications; ability to drive technical direction independently.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills for customer engagement and cross-functional collaboration in international teams.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of data center power infrastructure, backup power, and high-availability systems.
- Exposure to robotics electrification, distributed power systems, or safety-related design.
- Familiarity with edge connectivity, monitoring, or energy management in industrial environments.
