Salary: $150,000 - $200,000 base (OTE up to $350,000)

What you will do

• Define overall technical vision, architecture, and engineering roadmap aligned with product and growth.
• Lead recruitment, scaling, and mentorship of engineering team while shaping technical culture.
• Oversee backend systems, AI/ML models, APIs, data workflows, and integrations.
• Drive architectural decisions across TypeScript/NestJS, Python/FastAPI, frontend, and AI infrastructure.
• Build operational foundations including runbooks, tooling, metrics, and compliance roadmap.
• Represent technical strategy to customers, partners, investors, and institutions.

Requirements

• Hands-on technical leader with high ownership; individual contributor & leadership role – no managers
• Exceptional builder experienced in defining architecture and scaling engineering for ambitious products.
• Product-minded with deep knowledge of backend (TypeScript/NestJS, Python/FastAPI), AI/ML infrastructure.
• Expertise in security, observability, testing, reliability, and enterprise compliance.
• Proven ability to recruit, mentor, and build high-performing teams.
• Location flexibility: remote or in-person in Northern Virginia
