Salary: $206,500 – $295,000 USD

What you will do

• Set technical direction and architecture for the gateway/datapath to ensure high performance, low latency, and resiliency.
• Lead, hire, and grow a high-performing engineering organization with a culture of accountability and execution.
• Translate business priorities into clear roadmaps and milestones for dataplane capabilities.
• Own operational excellence, improving reliability, observability, and SLO/SLI discipline for production systems.
• Partner cross-functionally with Product, QA, Security, and SRE teams to align priorities and manage dependencies.

Requirements

• 15+ years of software engineering experience with 7+ years in engineering leadership.
• Proven experience building high-performance gateway/datapath or networking systems (e.g., L4–L7 proxies, firewalls, VPN).
• Track record of setting technical strategy and shipping impactful capabilities on predictable timelines.
• Strong production ownership experience, including incident management and root-cause analysis.
• Must be based in or able to work hybrid from San Jose, California.

Nice to have

• Experience designing and operating SD-WAN datapaths, overlay networking, and tunnel encapsulation.
• Experience delivering gateway capabilities in cloud-native, multi-tenant environments with automated rollout strategies.
• Deep knowledge of routing and switching fundamentals (BGP, OSPF, ECMP, VRFs) in high-scale environments.
