What you will do
- Lead the design of relay settings and protective relaying schemes for transmission lines, transformers, and circuit breakers.
- Develop logic programming and downloadable setpoint files using digital and legacy relays.
- Provide technical guidance for NERC compliance studies (PRC 24, 19, 25, 27) for renewable integration substations.
- Oversee technical engineering drawings including one-lines, connection diagrams, and P&C schematics for substation equipment.
- Perform short circuit system analysis, modeling, and coordination studies for transmission systems.
- Manage project budgets and schedules while mentoring junior engineers and reviewing technical deliverables.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (5+ years experience) or Master’s degree (3+ years experience).
- Professional Engineering (P.E.) license is mandatory.
- Must have US work authorization (no visa sponsorship available).
- Experience with SEL and GE protection relays and tools such as SEL Quickset, ETAP, ASPEN, and CAPE.
- Knowledge of IEC 61850 (GOOSE) implementation and NERC compliance standards.
- Must be based within standard commuting distance of the San Marcos, CA office.
