What you will do
- Build and assemble simulator sub-systems, including instrument panels, consoles, and flight control interfaces.
- Modify and integrate real-world Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) and glass cockpit displays into simulated environments.
- Fabricate complex wire harnesses and interface cables connecting aircraft hardware to PC-based simulation computers.
- Collaborate with AFRL engineers to iterate on breadboard designs and rapid prototypes for new research initiatives.
- Perform system-level power-on testing, signal tracing, and calibration of flight controls to match aircraft performance data.
- Maintain accurate as-built electrical schematics and wiring diagrams within a controlled DoD lab environment.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in avionics or electronics fabrication supporting DoD programs or military flight systems.
- Proficiency in MIL-SPEC soldering, crimping, and wire-routing standards (e.g., IPC-WHMA-A-620).
- Ability to integrate COTS hardware with military-grade avionics.
- Skill with diagnostic tools including oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal analyzers.
- Familiarity with basic machine shop tools for modifying enclosures or mounting brackets.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
