Field Installation and Service Technician

TL;DR

Field Installation and Service Technician (Test Systems): Deliver on-site installation, commissioning, and maintenance of advanced test automation and test bed equipment with an accent on mechanical/electrical setup, wiring, calibration, and troubleshooting. Focus on power-up verification, system checks, discrepancy documentation, and professional customer representation during high-travel field service.

Location: Plymouth, MI, US. Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Employer will not sponsor work visas. Willing and able to travel up to 90%.

What you will do

• Lead on-site mechanical and electrical installations, wiring terminations, and pneumatic/hydraulic setups, verifying against drawings.
• Power up, troubleshoot, and perform initial system checks in preparation for commissioning.
• Conduct final electrical quality inspections and document discrepancies for engineering feedback.
• Troubleshoot and repair products/systems to specifications, including in-house repairs and postproduction tests.
• Act as customer liaison, provide operator instructions, and complete service reports/expense documentation.
• Maintain calibration equipment, safe work areas per 5S standards, and participate in personal training development.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in engineering or equivalent trade school.
• 2+ years’ experience with test automation equipment and test bed operations.
• Experienced reading/interpreting USA ladder and European IEC blueprints.
• Knowledge of electrical and mechanical processes; ability to read/understand control circuits.
• Leadership/coordinator experience; excellent verbal/written communication skills.
• Must be willing to travel 90%+; work independently.
