TL;DR

Aerospace Technician (Space Hardware): Supporting the build, integration, and test of multispectral optical payloads for space applications with an accent on cross-functional hardware assembly. Focus on precision mechanical and opto-mechanical integration, electrical harnessing, and executing environmental tests such as TVAC and vibration.

Location: On-site in Carlsbad, California, USA. Must be a U.S. Citizen

Salary: $70,000 - $95,000 per year

A space and data analytics company building a new Earth Observation constellation to unlock the power of thermal infrared imagery.

What you will do

  • Perform assembly, integration, and test of mechanical, electrical, and opto-mechanical hardware for space-based payloads.
  • Build and route electrical harnessing, perform soldering, and support electronics integration activities.
  • Handle, clean, and perform basic alignment of optical components including lenses, sensors, and filters.
  • Execute functional and environmental testing, including thermal, TVAC, and vibration system-level checkouts.
  • Assist engineers with hardware troubleshooting and root cause investigations.
  • Maintain detailed build records, test logs, and documentation according to configuration management practices.

Requirements

  • Associates degree, technical certification, or equivalent hands-on experience in aerospace, mechanical, or electrical fields.
  • 3+ years of experience in hardware assembly, integration, or test in a lab or production environment.
  • Hands-on experience in mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, or optical/opto-mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with workmanship standards such as IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and a "U.S. Person" as defined by ITAR.

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting space, aerospace, or high-reliability hardware programs.
  • Experience working in cleanroom or controlled environments.
  • Soldering certification (e.g., J-STD-001).
  • Experience with test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and data acquisition systems.
  • Familiarity with contamination control practices for optical handling.
