$24.00 - $34.50 USD Hourly (varies by location: SF Bay Area $27.60-$34.50, other US $24.00-$30.00).

What you will do

• Research, design, and implement POCs for AI tools in detection & response to identify malicious activity in cloud environments.
• Explore AI applications for threat modeling, vulnerability management, and proactive risk remediation.
• Evaluate AI for automating security processes, scripting, and reducing manual tasks.
• Assess AI for securing public cloud (AWS, GCP) and hybrid infrastructures while ensuring compliance.
• Analyze how AI can process complex log data in real-time for novel attack detection in security operations.
• Document research, POCs, and produce final recommendation reports for investigated AI solutions.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related field.
• Foundational knowledge of OS internals (Linux/Windows), network protocols (TCP/IP), and cloud security principles.
• Ability to read/write scripts in modern languages (Python preferred, PowerShell/Bash).
• Hands-on experience with labs, network simulators, personal projects, or CTF platforms.
• Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, communication skills, and eagerness to learn.
• Available to work full summer break (May-August or June-September, 90 days).

Nice to have

• Familiarity with security tools (SIEM, EDR, Wireshark, Nessus, Splunk).
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+).
