TL;DR

Principal Process Engineer (Advanced Manufacturing Engineering): Lead development and implementation of advanced manufacturing processes, assembly lines, and tooling solutions for medical devices with an accent on innovation, scalability, quality, and patient safety. Focus on new process development, equipment validation, troubleshooting OEE issues, and cross-functional collaboration for product launches and production readiness.

Onsite: Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States (5 days a week onsite required)

Salary: $125,600 - $188,400 USD

Global healthcare technology leader developing lifesaving medical devices for cardiac and vascular therapies at a state-of-the-art manufacturing hub in Grand Rapids.

What you will do

  • Lead Capital Expense Requests for assembly, packaging equipment, and test fixtures, aligning with cost targets and capacity needs.
  • Support equipment validations including FAT, SAT, IQ/OQ/PQ, and MSA studies.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) for new product development programs.
  • Drive innovation in manufacturing processes, data collection, and vision systems.
  • Provide sustaining engineering support, recommend process modifications for efficiency and quality.
  • Integrate equipment capabilities, review product requirements, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree with minimum 7 years relevant experience (or Master's +5 years, PhD +3 years).
  • Unrestricted U.S. work authorization required; sponsorship (H-1B, etc.) available for Principal-level roles.
  • Experience in manufacturing process development, assembly solutions, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control, DFM/DFA principles, and equipment troubleshooting.
  • Must work 5 days onsite in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Nice to have

  • Strong project management and team leadership skills.
  • Experience with DFMEA/PFMEA, GD&T, Design of Experiments, and industrial engineering tools.
  • Lean/6 Sigma certification and 3D modeling/CAD (Creo preferred).
  • Ability to work across global locations.
