TL;DR

Principal Mechanical Engineer (Advanced Thermal Systems): Lead mechanical design, product validation, and quality engineering for complex industrial control components with an accent on precision drafting, GD&T, and manufacturing standards. Location: Milwaukee, WI 53209 (onsite). U.S. Citizenship required. Up to 10% travel to supplier or manufacturing sites.

What you will do

  • Lead creation and management of 3D models and 2D drawings using PTC CREO, designing sheet metal parts, machined components, and assemblies with GD&T.
  • Develop and execute part validation plans, perform root cause analysis for production issues using 8D, DMAIC, and Ishikawa tools.
  • Manage CAD data, design releases in PTC Windchill PLM, BOMs in SAP, and oversee ECR/ECN processes.
  • Apply Lean and Six Sigma to improve product reliability, participate in PFMEA and Kaizen for DFM/DFMA optimization.
  • Mentor junior engineers on drafting, GD&T, and validation; ensure compliant documentation.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Metrology on prototypes, trials, and validation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from ABET-accredited institution.
  • Minimum 5 years in mechanical design, product, or quality engineering.
  • Expert proficiency in CREO Parametric and Windchill; deep GD&T and assembly design knowledge.
  • Experience in validation testing, inspection, and quality tools; strong SAP, Excel, and MS Project skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.

Nice to have

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or higher.
  • Knowledge of metrology tools and inspection processes.
  • Extensive supplier collaboration in manufacturing.
