TL;DR
Nanophotonics Engineer (III-V Epitaxy): Drive development of III-V epitaxy technologies for next-generation AR glasses devices with an accent on process optimization, materials characterization, and yield improvement. Focus on leading epitaxial growth operations, executing complex DOEs, analyzing data, and collaborating cross-functionally to advance R&D roadmap.
Location: Abingdon, UK. Office 4+ days per week (Default Together policy).

What you will do
- Lead development of III-V epitaxy technologies for new innovations and next-generation devices.
- Manage day-to-day epitaxy operations including process planning, recipe optimization, growth execution, and materials characterization with XRD, PL, CL, EL, SEM, AFM.
- Contribute to epitaxial technology roadmap aligning R&D with business goals.
- Conduct process testing, data analysis, quality assurance, and continuous improvements in performance, uniformity, and yield.
- Collaborate with Process Engineering, Equipment Engineering, Characterisation & Test, Facilities, and Shift Engineers.
- Participate in IP development, patents, cleanroom compliance, and safety.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field.
- Extensive hands-on experience with MOCVD systems, epitaxial growth, and materials characterization.
- Proven track record designing complex DOEs and executing experiments in MOCVD.
- Experience in failure analysis, defect classification, quality management, and photonics applications.
- Strong understanding of equipment design, maintenance, scrubber systems, and analytical tools.
- Excellent teamwork, documentation, and communication skills.
Nice to have
- Ph.D. in Materials Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, or related.
- Hands-on experience in R&D or high-volume manufacturing with III-V materials.
- Track record in mass production process development, yield improvement, throughput optimization.
- Awareness of competitive III-V technology landscape.
