What you will do
- Draft, review, and negotiate procurement, IT, consultancy, leasing, services, and construction-related agreements including purchase orders, NDAs, SaaS, EULAs, IP licensing, subcontracts, and flowdown processes.
- Provide legal advice on project delivery methods like design-build and CM at risk, risk mitigation, insurance, financial security, and compliance.
- Advise business teams on risk mitigation, dispute strategies, and change management in services or construction projects.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, procurement, finance, tax, treasury, and insurance experts on legal concerns for ongoing and upcoming projects.
- Assist in dispute resolution including claims preparation, arbitration, and litigation support; monitor compliance with laws, safety standards, labor, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain contract templates, conduct legal research, stay current on industry trends, and provide training on construction contracts, IP, lien law, indemnity, and change orders.
Requirements
- Law degree (J.D. preferred) and licensed to practice law in at least 1 jurisdiction; admitted to practice in Kansas preferred.
- Typically 3+ years of experience; 5+ years preferred in transactional and construction law, focusing on EPC and Design-Build subcontracts.
- Strong understanding of procurement and construction industry standards, regulations, project management, dispute resolution (litigation, mediation, arbitration), insurance, bonding, and financial security.
- Excellent legal research, writing, communication skills; ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, collaborate, and provide practical solutions.

Nice to have
- Experience working in-house for a construction or engineering company in power, oil/gas, energy, and/or data center markets.
- Working knowledge of technologies like simple/combined cycle power, solar, distributed infrastructure, FLNG, data center development, and financing models.
