TL;DR

Manufacturing Production System Engineer (Aerospace): Own the transition of manufacturing ecosystem from development through production, designing processes, defining manufacturing readiness, and generating analysis for customer engagement with an accent on high-volume scaling and Design for Manufacturing (DFM). Focus on building factory capabilities, pilot lines, tooling procurement, and driving cross-functional execution across engineering, supply chain, and operations.

Location: Washington, District of Columbia, United States. Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State due to ITAR regulations.

What you will do

  • Iterate hands-on on the overall production system, advancing Design for Manufacturing (DFM) concepts, processes, and producibility improvements with engineering.
  • Own the Manufacturing Management Plan (MMP), building and executing a roadmap from current state to high-volume manufacturing.
  • Maintain manufacturing documentation to support scaling operations and customer requirements.
  • Stand up production capability, leading factory build-out, tooling/equipment design, selection, procurement, and pilot line development.
  • Turn ambiguity into execution by creating structures, plans, and frameworks for alignment across teams.
  • Drive cross-functional execution, identifying gaps, enforcing accountability, and ensuring delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • 7+ years in manufacturing engineering, preferably aerospace or defense.
  • Designed process flow and manufacturing ecosystems in aviation, automotive, robotics, or similar.
  • Experience planning, building, and operating high-rate industrial manufacturing for structural assemblies and mechanical systems.
  • Extensive experience with composite and/or metallic fabrication, machining, assembly, and inspection.
  • Created detailed digital simulations of factory operations and processes; proficiency with manufacturing software and CAD (Siemens NX, Fibersim, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Digital Twin/Thread, Manufacturing 4.0, quality control, and aerospace certifications like AS9100.
  • Led cross-functional technical efforts from concept to execution.
