TL;DR

Legal, Compliance and Privacy Intern (GRC): Assist in building and operationalizing Governance, Risk, and Compliance programs, including control mapping and evidence collection for regulatory frameworks like SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, HIPAA with an accent on vendor risk management and process analytics. Focus on designing streamlined processes, translating complex obligations into actionable controls, and ensuring alignment with business objectives and international requirements.

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco, CA or San Ramon, CA (3 days/week in office required: M, W, TH)

Hourly compensation: $25 USD

What you will do

• Support GRC implementation, including control mapping, evidence workflows, and alignment with regulations like SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, HIPAA.
• Manage vendor risk lifecycle from intake, tiering, due diligence, to ongoing monitoring.
• Identify and document controls in business processes, understanding operational scope and interdependencies.
• Analyze regulatory requirements and translate them into actionable controls and policies.
• Design streamlined processes and controls for risk reduction and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with managers and cross-functional teams on governance, data security, and privacy projects.

Requirements

• Rising college senior or above pursuing degree in Business Administration, Compliance, Data Privacy, Legal, Finance or related field
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Proficiency in analytical tools and process mapping methodologies
• Awareness of governance frameworks and enterprise risk management
• Must work from San Francisco, CA or San Ramon, CA offices (hybrid, 3 days/week in office)
