TL;DR
Research Scientist (Automation): Design, implement, and validate automated methods for high-throughput antibody screening and characterization with an accent on binding assays, functional characterization, and lab automation workflows. Focus on optimizing hybridoma-based antibody generation, cell-based assays, and integration of novel screening technologies.
Location: 100% lab-based onsite role in South San Francisco, California

What you will do
- Design, implement, and validate automated methods for high-throughput antibody screening and characterization.
- Optimize hybridoma-based antibody generation, cell-based assays, protein-based assays, and related laboratory workflows.
- Implement automated liquid handling processes for protein normalization, serial dilution, cherry picking, and NGS library preparation.
- Perform mammalian cell culture and independently plan, execute, troubleshoot, and interpret experiments.
- Analyze, document, summarize, and present experimental data for team and project meetings.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary and cross-functional partners while maintaining laboratory and safety standards.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with binding assays, including ELISA and flow cytometry/FACS.
- Experience with automated liquid handling platforms, robotic arms, and basic automation method development.
- Experience with immunoassays, antibody functional characterization, and mammalian cell culture.
- Ability to independently plan experiments, troubleshoot methods and instrumentation, and manage multiple projects.
- Proficiency with scientific data analysis tools such as GraphPad Prism, Spotfire, Genedata, or equivalent software.
- Ability to work onsite in South San Francisco, California, in a full-time, 40-hour-per-week laboratory role.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of high-throughput screening, assay miniaturization, and assay optimization.
- Familiarity with SpectraMax, EnVision, CLARIOstar, or similar microplate readers.
- Programming or scripting experience with Python, SQL, Venus, or Momentum for data processing, workflow automation, or instrument integration.
