Cell Culture Specialist I (Biotechnology)

Location: Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA; onsite work in a traditional industrial laboratory environment.

Annual base salary: $59,100–$87,900, with potential discretionary or non-discretionary bonuses.

What you will do

• Manipulate adherent and suspension cell lines, including mouse hybridoma, Expi 293, and Expi CHO cells.
• Produce monoclonal antibodies, recombinant QRM antibodies, and other cell-based products through cell culture and transfection.
• Operate cell culture equipment, plate readers, controlled-rate freezers, incubators, and AKTA purification systems.
• Perform daily cell culture, purification, vialing, and storage processes to meet production demand.
• Coordinate equipment maintenance, calibration, and validation documentation.
• Maintain laboratory supplies, cell stocks, records, cleanliness, and process-area readiness.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• At least three months of laboratory cell culture experience using aseptic technique.
• Basic knowledge of aseptic technique and the ability to perform cell culture without antibiotics.
• Ability to follow safety procedures, manage changing priorities, meet time-sensitive deadlines, and work independently or as part of a team.
• Good verbal and written communication, organizational, planning, and time-management skills.
• Ability to move or lift up to 40 pounds and work for extended periods while sitting or standing.

Nice to have

• Experience in a GMP/GLP or ISO-certified environment.
• Knowledge of manufacturing mammalian cell-based products and hybridoma cell culture expansion.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint.
