Contracts Optimization Manager

TL;DR
Contracts Optimization Manager (Government Contracts): Lead end-to-end government contracting activities from RFP through award, administration, and closeout with an accent on regulatory compliance, process efficiency, and standardization across the contract lifecycle. Focus on drafting and negotiating contracts, analyzing risks, implementing AI-enabled automation and CLM systems, and driving scalable process improvements.

What you will do
- Lead contracting from RFP/bid through award, execution, and closeout ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Review RFPs, bids, awards, amendments; draft, negotiate contracts, subcontracts, and statements of work.
- Analyze terms, identify risks, propose mitigations; track contracts, renewals, deliverables.
- Develop templates, playbooks, clause libraries; implement process improvements and automation.
- Leverage CLM systems and AI workflows for intake, review, drafting, and analysis.
- Partner with Sales, Finance, IT, Operations; train stakeholders and report on metrics.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years in government contracting including RFPs and negotiation.
- Strong knowledge of state and local procurement regulations.
- Experience with CLM systems, workflow tools, contracting risk, and compliance.
- Demonstrated experience with legal AI tools like Harvey AI.
- Excellent organizational, time management, written, and verbal communication skills.
Nice to have
- Juris Doctor (JD) or Master’s in government procurement.
- Certified Professional Contract Manager (CPCM) or similar.
- Experience with AI tools, automation, prompt engineering in contracting.
- Experience developing contract playbooks, SOPs, policy documentation.
