Location: Must be based in Goleta, California, United States (Onsite)
Salary: $150,000–$185,000

What you will do
- Lead and mentor a team of mechanical, electrical, optical, and sustaining engineers.
- Manage project tasks, schedules, and resource allocation using Jira and other management tools.
- Oversee engineering documentation, design transfer to production, and PLM/PDM systems.
- Conduct active reviews of design performance, compliance, reliability, and manufacturability (DFx).
- Report progress to program management and executive leadership during quarterly reviews.
- Promote a milestone-driven culture focused on accountability, quality, and cross-functional collaboration.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or related field.
- Minimum 6+ years of product development experience and 3+ years of engineering management experience.
- Proven experience in an FDA-controlled environment, including IEC 60601, ISO 13485, and ISO 14971.
- Strong intuition for robotic, mechatronic, and optical systems.
- Proficiency in project management methodologies and engineering best practices.
- Excellent English communication skills for technical reporting and cross-functional presentation.
Nice to have
- Experience with optical concepts, optical design, and camera technology.
- Experience with Arena, Solidworks, and Altium.
- Phase-based development experience.
