Senior R&D Engineer

TL;DR

Senior R&D Engineer (Plasma Lighting): Lead the development and design of plasma lighting products (e.g., Cermax, Excimer lamps), collaborating with teams to drive products into mass production with an accent on manufacturing processes, technical roadmaps, and process optimization. Focus on defining manufacturing methods, conducting research and competitor analysis, and ensuring product quality through capability studies and continuous improvement.

Location: Singapore (onsite), with weekly travel to Batam required for production support and NPI.

What you will do

• Lead development and design of plasma lighting products, coordinating with Pleasanton R&D and Batam manufacturing teams for mass production.
• Conduct research, competitor analysis, and conceptual design to support technical roadmaps.
• Provide technical leadership for product/process timelines, critical paths, and objectives.
• Define and develop manufacturing processes, adapting methods and equipment.
• Support Batam production with equipment setup, parameter optimization, MSA/GR&R, FMEA, and Lean layouts.
• Manage customer samples, ensure quality/yield via process studies and documentation, and drive Six Sigma/Lean improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or related field.
• At least 4-5 years of relevant experience in related industry/role (preferred).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; knowledge of Six Sigma and FMEA.
• Experience with hermetic sealing, high-temperature processes, optics/light measurement, thermal modeling, controlled-atmosphere brazing (preferred).
• Willingness to travel weekly to Batam for production and NPI support.
