TL;DR
Project Engineer II (Calibration): Defines, plans, and performs engine and powertrain calibration along with emissions and OBD calibration with an accent on achieving automotive tailpipe emissions and OBD standards. Focus on technical studies, data analysis, validation, vehicle testing, and customer interfacing to ensure project compliance and success.
Offsite in Michigan, MI, US. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Employer will not sponsor an applicant for a work visa for this position.

What you will do
- Define, plan, and perform engine, powertrain calibration and relevant engineering project work within the team.
- Plan and manage engineering resources according to project requirements.
- Work on technical studies, specifications, engine/vehicle testing, data analysis, and validation.
- Ensure data quality, write technical reports, and review projects for compliance with standards and requirements.
- Coordinate technical development, scheduling, resolve test issues, and support R&D activities.
- Participate in customer meetings, communicate results and issues, and join calibration development trips.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field; Master’s preferred.
- 3-5+ years postgraduate experience in internal combustion engine emissions and OBD calibration.
- Thorough understanding of IC engines, powertrain systems, emissions controls, and aftertreatment systems.
- Powertrain calibration experience to meet emissions and fuel economy objectives.
- Experience with OBD monitors (CCM, Catalyst, Misfire, EGR, AFRIM, HEGO, etc.), self-cert demonstration, IUMPR.
- Proficiency in tools like ETAS INCA, ATI Vision, Vector CANape/CANalyzer; ability to interpret C code; Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication skills for customer and team interfacing; experience with automaker practices.
