TL;DR

Cloud Platform & Infrastructure Domain Lead (Azure): Provide technical leadership, architectural governance, and delivery oversight across Azure platform services, core infrastructure, identity, compute, storage, and migration tooling for a major Australian Federal Government cloud transformation initiative. Focus on establishing guardrails, IaC modules with Terraform, integration of VMware workloads, Azure Migrate enablement, and ensuring compliance with ASD ISM, PSPF, Essential Eight frameworks.

Location: On-site in Canberra, Sydney, or Melbourne. Must hold an active AGSVA Security Clearance (NV1 preferred) due to exposure to sensitive systems.

What you will do

• Lead architecture, design, and evolution of Azure landing zone and platform services for large-scale migrations.
• Establish guardrails, patterns, templates, and reusable IaC modules using Terraform for consistency and compliance.
• Oversee engineering squads implementing Azure Compute, Storage, Entra ID, monitoring, and GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Own platform enablement of Azure Migrate toolchain, guiding migration patterns and VMware integration.
• Ensure security-by-design, compliance with ASD ISM, PSPF, IRAP, and track platform risks.
• Act as senior technical interface for stakeholders, vendors, and cross-functional teams.

Requirements

• Extensive experience designing and delivering Azure platform and infrastructure services in secure environments.
• Strong experience with VMware infrastructure, Azure Migrate, Terraform IaC, GitLab CI/CD.
• Solid understanding of Azure identity, compute, storage, resilience, governance, operations.
• Prior experience leading large-scale cloud migration or modernisation programs.
• Deep familiarity with ASD ISM, Essential Eight, IRAP, PSPF, security-by-design.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Nice to have

• Microsoft certifications (AZ-305, AZ-500, AZ-104, AZ-700).
• Experience with application refactoring and infrastructure modernisation.
• Background in Protected-level or National Security environments.
• Experience with automation at scale (GitLab runners, policy-as-code).
