Senior Server Engineer

TL;DR

Senior Server Engineer (Infrastructure): Design, deployment, and configuration of client/server and data centre infrastructure including physical/virtual compute, storage, cloud, backup, and security with an accent on lifecycle assessment, optimization, and technology leadership. Focus on producing high-level/low-level designs, roadmaps, technical documentation, troubleshooting, and vendor coordination for ICT projects in resources sector.

Location: Predominantly office-based in Brisbane, Queensland, AU with occasional interstate travel. Medical may be required for site access.

What you will do

• Design, deploy, and configure client/server and data centre infrastructure including physical/virtual compute, storage, cloud, backup, and security.
• Patch and upgrade systems in line with policy, assess infrastructure for lifecycle/performance, and provide optimization recommendations.
• Provide technology leadership for on-premise and cloud workload planning/strategy, contribute to designs and roadmaps.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation, reports, and records for infrastructure solutions.
• Troubleshoot, rectify faults, conduct acceptance tests, commission systems, and work with vendors to resolve issues.
• Deliver projects to high quality within time constraints from inception through implementation and handover.

Requirements

• Experience in server/data centre engineering, ICT infrastructure projects in resources/mining or heavy industrial sectors.
• Skills in design/deployment/configuration of compute, storage, cloud, backup, security systems.
• Ability to assess infrastructure, provide recommendations, lead technology strategy, and produce documentation.
• Technical support, troubleshooting, testing, and vendor coordination capabilities.
• Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or Computer Science or equivalent.

Nice to have

• Relevant vendor certifications (e.g. Microsoft, VMWare, Dell EMC).
• Mining or heavy industrial experience.
• Powershell scripting for automation.
• Experience with data protection technologies (Veeam, Commvault).
• Experience in outsourced delivery environments.
