TL;DR

Controller (Finance): Lead day-to-day financial operations for a technology services company supporting federal and commercial clients with an accent on project-based accounting, internal controls, and compliance. Focus on managing full-cycle AP/AR, monthly closes, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and process automation.

Hybrid role based in the Washington, DC / Northern Virginia area

What you will do

• Oversee full-cycle accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing, payments, collections, and reconciliations.
• Lead monthly and year-end financial closes, produce statements, perform variance analysis, and ensure audit readiness.
• Develop budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections, and provide insights on financial performance.
• Track project P&Ls, labor allocations, vendor spend, and identify margin improvement opportunities.
• Maintain internal controls, ensure GAAP compliance, and support federal contracting requirements.
• Implement automation, build dashboards, and advise on financial systems and processes.
• Partner with leadership on strategic financial decisions and cross-functional support.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
• 5–8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
• Experience in professional services, technology consulting, or government contracting preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, revenue recognition, and project-based accounting.
• Experience with QuickBooks and tools such as Bill.com.
• Proven ability to manage full-cycle accounting and strong analytical skills.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting federal contracts (T&M, fixed price, or cost-type).
• Familiarity with DCAA compliance and audit readiness.
• Experience in a multi-entity environment.
• Experience improving or scaling finance processes in a growing organization.
