TL;DR

Backend Engineer (Python/TypeScript): Building and operating production backend systems for consumer-grade AI agents with an accent on distributed systems, API design, reliability, and model orchestration. Focus on owning full cycle from whiteboarding concepts to shipping features, bridging research breakthroughs to production, and defining engineering standards.

What you will do

• Whiteboard concepts in the morning and demo shipped products by evening, owning the full cycle from idea to production.
• Build across the full stack including backend, frontend, model orchestration, and observability to remove friction.
• Bridge research breakthroughs into polished consumer experiences and push to production rapidly.
• Establish engineering, design, and reliability standards for the team.
• Develop scalable systems serving millions that redefine human-AI collaboration.

Requirements

• 5+ years building and operating production backend systems in fast-paced product teams
• Owned production SLAs and on-call for critical systems
• Deep knowledge of distributed systems fundamentals (idempotency, retries, queues, caching, consistency) and API design (REST/gRPC)
• Fluency in Python, TypeScript/Node.js for observable, testable, extensible code
• Experience with Postgres/MySQL schema design, indexing/transactions, Redis, Kafka or similar

• API integrations at scale with retries, rate-limits, data normalization
• LLM pipelines (embeddings, retrieval, LangChain/OpenAI APIs)
• Cloud/reliability: Docker/K8s, CI/CD, observability, performance profiling, security
