What you will do
- Build and optimize real-time speech pipelines including buffering, streaming, latency reduction, and speech provider integrations.
- Develop conversation intelligence with LLM prompt construction, context management, function calling, and dialogue management for natural interactions.
- Implement action frameworks for configurable API calls, branching logic, auth, and runtime execution during calls.
- Design knowledge ingestion, storage, retrieval, and memory systems for agents to retain context across conversations.
- Create agent lifecycle tools for configuration, testing, and deployment in collaboration with designers.
- Build evaluation frameworks, post-call analytics, quality metrics, and observability with Datadog; participate in on-call rotation.
Requirements
- Experience building production backend systems in Python or TypeScript (5+ years for senior roles).
- Proficiency in async code, performance/reliability design, and shipping user-dependent systems.
- Knowledge of real-time systems tradeoffs: buffering, streaming, connection management, latency.
- Production experience with LLMs/AI/ML: prompt engineering, context management, function calling.
- Familiarity with evaluation tooling, event-driven architectures, message queues, caching, async processing.
- Skills in debugging distributed systems, testing, observability, API design, code review, clear communication.
- Use of AI coding tools in daily processes.
Nice to have
- Experience with voice, audio, or telephony systems.
- Work with STT/TTS providers and models.
- LLM evaluation frameworks and AI quality metrics.
- AWS (DynamoDB, Lambda, AppSync, SQS), GraphQL, Kubernetes, IaC (Terraform, Helm).
