Senior AWS DevOps Engineer (Contract): Deliver Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and lead AWS cloud architecture across EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC, ECS, and Lambda with an accent on scalable, secure cloud infrastructure for serverless and containerised applications. Focus on developing CI/CD pipelines, implementing security best practices, and driving cost optimisation strategies.

Location: Remote, must be based in the UK

Rate: £500 - £550 per day (Outside IR35)

What you will do

• Deliver Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, including modules, state management, and remote backends
• Lead AWS cloud architecture across services such as EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC, ECS, and Lambda
• Develop and maintain serverless and event-driven architectures
• Build and optimise CI/CD pipelines using Git-based workflows
• Ensure AWS security best practices including IAM, least privilege, and secrets management
• Drive cost optimisation and right-sizing strategies across cloud environments
• Produce clear technical documentation for infrastructure and processes
• Support development of lightweight UI layers to surface backend data

Requirements

• Must be based in the UK
• Strong Terraform expertise (modules, remote state, best practices)
• Experience programming for Lambda functions and ECS containers
• Solid understanding of serverless architectures and event-driven design
• Proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows
• Knowledge of AWS cost optimisation and cloud security principles
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS Glue, Kinesis, Step Functions
• Experience with Splunk, SOAR tools, and modern front-end frameworks
