Purchasing Assistant (12m FTC)

TL;DR

Purchasing Assistant: Assisting in the purchasing of goods and services for manufacturing operations with an accent on vendor management, order processing, and inventory control. Focus on negotiating pricing, ensuring compliance with policies, and coordinating procurement across departments.

Location: Onsite near Middlesbrough with possibility of 1 day per week hybrid working after initial training period.

Salary: £26,000-28,000 per annum depending on experience.

What you will do

• Manage vendor relationships by sourcing quotations, negotiating pricing, and handling the order book.
• Generate and process purchase orders, monitoring status for timely delivery.
• Assist with inventory management, maintaining stock records and optimal levels.
• Ensure procurement complies with company policies, standards, and legal requirements.
• Support cost control by working within budgets and finding cost-effective alternatives.
• Coordinate with finance, operations, logistics, and engineering departments.
• Resolve issues like delivery delays, damaged goods, and invoice discrepancies.
• Build supplier relationships and provide administrative support to the team.

Requirements

• Some purchasing or supply chain experience advantageous but not essential.
• Good attention to detail.
• Competent on Excel.
• Great communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure.

Culture & Benefits

• Core hours: 09:00-11:30 and 14:00-16:30, with early Friday finishes at 15:00.
