About the Role

You will lead, mentor, and grow a small team of software engineers while remaining hands-on in the codebase. You will own team execution, ensure sprint commitments are met, and translate product direction into concrete engineering plans. You will contribute code, review pull requests, participate in architecture discussions, and drive reliability, security, and incident response. You will manage onboarding, performance feedback, and career development while improving engineering practices and deployment workflows.

Requirements

• 5+ years of senior software engineering experience
• 1+ years in an engineering management role
• Proven ability to remain hands-on technically while leading a team
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, security best practices, and cloud environments
• Hands-on familiarity with agile workflows, release management, and on-call incident response
• Track record of building healthy high-performing teams with delivery predictability
• Excellent communication skills
• Must live in the United States

Responsibilities

• Own team execution and ensure sprint commitments are met
• Translate product and director-level direction into actionable engineering plans
• Balance feature delivery with technical debt reduction and security hardening
• Identify and remove bottlenecks in development and release workflows
• Maintain and improve engineering best practices, standards, and SOPs
• Partner with Product to align engineering work with roadmap priorities
• Provide technical perspective by surfacing risks, dependencies, and opportunities
• Lead, mentor, and grow a small team of 3-5 engineers
• Own onboarding, performance management, and career development
• Provide direct kind feedback and set clear expectations
• Spend majority of time hands-on writing code, reviewing PRs, and participating in RFCs
• Participate in incident response, postmortems, and follow-through on action items
• Champion code quality, testing, and continuous improvement
