Senior Research and Development Specialist

Location: Remote; multiple locations. Upcoming Work – Fort Meade. Top Secret clearance is required.

What you will do

• Lead the identification, evaluation, and development of new technologies, products, and processes.
• Design, prototype, and validate R&D concepts through modeling, simulation, experimentation, and proof-of-concept builds.
• Conduct feasibility studies, cost-benefit analyses, and risk assessments for new initiatives.
• Serve as a subject matter expert, advise leadership, and provide technical guidance to project teams.
• Prepare and publish research findings, reports, and technical documentation.
• Support intellectual property development, including patents and technology disclosures, while ensuring compliance with organizational, regulatory, and ethical standards.

Requirements

• Top Secret clearance.
• DoD 8140 certification.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Life Sciences, or a related technical discipline.
• 8 years of experience in R&D, innovation, or applied research roles.
• Expertise in one or more relevant technical domains, such as software engineering, materials science, biotechnology, data science, or advanced manufacturing.
• Experience with prototyping, modeling and simulation, and experimental design.
• Knowledge of technology transfer, commercialization, or systems integration.
• Familiarity with project management methodologies such as Agile or Stage-Gate.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Life Sciences, or a related technical discipline.
