Field Applications Scientist (Downstream Filtration)

Location: Remote - Massachusetts, United States; domestic travel up to 75% with occasional international travel.

Estimated base salary: $100,000-$146,000 per year, plus eligibility for variable cash programs and, for eligible roles, equity.

What you will do

• Partner with Sales, Product Management, and Marketing to drive adoption of the downstream filtration portfolio through technical presentations, customer evaluations, demonstrations, troubleshooting, and Voice of Customer activities.
• Serve as the technical expert for downstream filtration applications, helping customers optimize processes, implement new technologies, and solve bioprocessing challenges across process development and manufacturing.
• Build customer and internal stakeholder relationships, remove technical barriers, accelerate opportunities, and increase confidence in hirify.global solutions.
• Develop application data, technical reports, training materials, and customer-facing content with Product Management, R&D, and Marketing to support portfolio growth and new product launches.
• Maintain expertise in downstream bioprocessing technologies and industry trends while providing customer and market insights for future products, applications, and commercial strategy.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in downstream bioprocessing, process development, manufacturing, technical support, field applications, or a related customer-facing technical role.
• Strong knowledge of tangential flow filtration (TFF), downstream process development, scale-up and scale-down methodologies, technology transfer, and cGMP manufacturing environments.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to translate technical concepts into practical customer solutions and influence stakeholders through expertise, credibility, and collaboration.
• Ability to combine technical expertise with a commercial mindset and influence customer decisions through technical leadership, strategic thinking, and customer-centered problem solving.
• Ability to work independently in a field-based role and travel domestically up to 75%, with occasional international travel.

Nice to have

• Experience with TFF systems and filtration process development.
• Experience supporting biologics, cell therapy, gene therapy, viral vectors, mRNA, recombinant proteins, or related advanced modalities.
• Experience in customer-facing applications support, technical sales, manufacturing science, or process development roles.
• Ability to build customer relationships, influence technical strategy, and drive technology adoption through collaboration, leadership by influence, and a commitment to customer value.
