R&D Engineer - Graphics (Ray Tracing)

Location: Remote (United States); role location listed as Sunnyvale, CA

Salary: $150,000–$220,000 per year in California

What you will do

• Research and analyze existing rendering algorithms.
• Translate rendering concepts into discrete, computationally efficient models.
• Evaluate competing tools, algorithms, and performance benchmarks, then communicate findings to leadership.
• Collaborate with hardware architects to define proof-of-concept features and system requirements.
• Provide performance estimates and benchmarking data throughout projects.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with a strong focus on algorithms and scientific computing.
• Proficiency in advanced calculus, discrete mathematics, and modeling of physical phenomena.
• Programming experience in C, C++, and Python.
• Ability to clearly communicate research findings to technical and non-technical leadership.

Nice to have

• Exposure to hardware acceleration, GPUs, and FPGA technologies.
• Startup experience.
