Staff Data Scientist (Fintech)

TL;DR

Staff Data Scientist (DS/ML): Designing and optimizing advanced ML models for fraud detection and risk management solutions with an accent on deep learning, transformers, and graph learning algorithms. Focus on building end-to-end machine learning lifecycles and developing novel algorithms to advance the state of the art in identity verification.

Location: Remote (Must be based in the US; sponsorship is not provided)

Compensation Range: $140K - $210K

What you will do

• Design and implement advanced deep learning models, including transformers, CNNs/RNNs, and graph learning algorithms, to solve complex fraud challenges.
• Build and optimize models utilizing diverse data modalities: tabular data, natural language, point clouds, and images.
• Lead the end-to-end ML lifecycle, including data exploration, feature engineering, training, evaluation, and production monitoring.
• Mentor junior data scientists and drive a culture of rapid iteration and continuous learning.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Risk teams to define data requirements and strategic insights.
• Conduct research on new data sources and novel algorithms to improve fraud detection capabilities.

Requirements

• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, or equivalent professional experience.
• 8+ years of experience in data science or machine learning, preferably in fintech or high-growth tech.
• Proven experience in fraud prevention, risk modeling, or identity verification.
• Expertise in developing and deploying deep learning models using PyTorch, TensorFlow, or scikit-learn.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Must be authorized to work in the US (no sponsorship provided now or in the future).

Nice to have

• Experience with real-time model inferencing.
• Experience with LLMs and Agentic AI frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, or Ray.
