TL;DR

Senior Flight Navigation Engineer (Aerospace): Designing and implementing advanced navigation systems for uncrewed aircraft with an accent on sensor modeling, state estimation, and regulatory compliance. Focus on building high-integrity, safety-critical flight software to enable the integration of automated aviation into the National Airspace System.

Location: Must be based in the U.S. (Mountain View, CA or Remote). Requires U.S. person status or export control authorization.

Compensation: $200,000 – $300,000 + Equity

What you will do

  • Define navigation system requirements in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Source and select sensor solutions and develop sensor models for simulation.
  • Implement state estimation algorithms in flight software.
  • Establish test methods to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Evaluate system performance via simulation, hardware-in-loop, and flight testing.
  • Travel up to 25% of the time for testing and integration activities.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. person or eligible for export control authorization.
  • MS or PhD in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or similar.
  • 8+ years of professional experience developing and testing navigation algorithms.
  • Technical expertise in Kalman filtering, GNSS, inertial navigation, or alternative navigation technologies.
  • Professional experience with C/C++ flight software and Python for data analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Technical expertise in probability theory, fault detection and exclusion (FDE), or GPS-denied navigation.
  • Experience developing software for safety-critical applications.
  • Experience with navigation system certification.
