TL;DR

Sr. Flight Guidance Engineer (Aerospace): Designing and implementing guidance systems for automated aviation with an accent on motion planning, control algorithms, and safety-critical software development. Focus on integrating uncrewed aircraft into the National Airspace System through rigorous simulation, lab testing, and flight validation.

Location: Must be based in the US (Mountain View, CA office available for hybrid work). Requires U.S. person status or authorization for export-controlled technology.

Compensation: $200,000 – $300,000 + Equity

What you will do

  • Define guidance system capabilities and requirements in collaboration with operations and pilot teams.
  • Design guidance system features for integration with flight control systems and pilot displays.
  • Implement flight guidance algorithms in simulation and flight software.
  • Analyze simulation, lab, and flight test data to evaluate system performance.
  • Validate guidance behavior through hardware-in-loop and flight test cases.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. person or authorized to access export-controlled technology.
  • MS in aerospace engineering, robotics, or equivalent field.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in guidance or motion planning for real-time vehicle systems.
  • Professional proficiency in C/C++ and Python.
  • Excellent communication skills for explaining system behavior to end users.
  • Must be willing to travel 10% of the time.

Nice to have

  • PhD in aerospace, electrical engineering, or computer science.
  • Expertise in probability theory or optimization.
  • Experience with safety-critical software development or Flight Management System certification.
  • Current pilot, instrument, or commercial rating.
