What you will do

• Lead the design and development of consumer products from initial concept through to ongoing product support.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Product Development teams to optimize system performance and trade-offs.
• Build and test proof-of-concept prototypes through cross-disciplinary brainstorming and iterative testing.
• Mentor and guide a team of mechanical engineers, including co-ops and interns.
• Utilize CAD tools like Solidworks or CREO to create robust assemblies and detailed product designs.

Requirements

• BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years of related experience in product design and development.
• Proficiency in CAD software (Solidworks or CREO).
• Hands-on experience with prototyping, 3D printing, machining, and lab instrumentation.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize test data using Excel, Minitab, or Matlab.
• Must be based in or able to work on-site in Needham, MA.

Nice to have

• Experience with electronics (analog/digital) and components like sensors, motors, and PCBAs.
• Previous experience in a consumer product company or as a consultant.
• Expertise in designing and executing experimental test plans to guide design decisions.
