Development Manager (Renewable Energy)

TL;DR

Development Manager (Renewable Energy): Driving the progression of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects from early development to Ready to Build (RTB) with an accent on planning approvals, grid connection, and development risk management. Focus on coordinating external consultants and joint partners to ensure project milestones are met across a multi-state Australian portfolio.

What you will do

• Manage development partners for acquired greenfield BESS projects through to RTB status.
• Oversee Development Approval (DA) processes across state, council, and federal pathways.
• Coordinate external consultants, joint development partners, and internal stakeholders to avoid project delays.
• Manage land agreements and support grid connection processes with DNSPs and TNSPs.
• Own development budgets and maintain detailed risk registers.
• Optimize internal development processes, including stage-gates, governance, and reporting templates.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, Environmental Science, Business, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in renewable energy project development, preferably with utility-scale BESS.
• Proven track record of progressing projects from acquisition through approvals and grid connections.
• Strong understanding of Australian planning and environmental approval frameworks.
• Knowledge of NEM regulations, AEMO processes, and grid connection requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to manage consultants, budgets, and complex stakeholder interfaces.
